#HermoStrong: Funeral Costs and Outstanding Bills
Donation protected
***On behalf of Troy, the Hermo family would like to thank everyone for supporting and helping Troy fight against cancer. We are so grateful for such an incredible community. This GoFundMe page will remain archived.
In 2018, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Adrenal Cancer. Five years later, I've been given the unbelieveable opportunity to travel to MD Anderson Cancer Center (the #1 hospital in America for cancer treatment) for a targeted clinical trial that will hopefully save my life. This could be my last chance at life, and I need your help.
Please consider donating to help fund airfare, travel, lodging, food, and medical expenses.
My Cancer Journey
When I was 24 years old, I was managing one of the fastest growing companies, dating in a new relationship, purchased a brand new car, and had everything ahead of me. When my first symptoms started to occur, the doctors assured me that it was just anxiety or my casual drinking on the weekends.
They said I was young and needed to make better food choices.
What felt like overnight, I gained 20 pounds in my stomach, broke out in severe rashes, and would shake unctrollably, so I demanded a CT scan.
Two days later, I got the news. I was diagnosed with stage 4 Adrenal Cancer with an 8 1/2 pound tumor on my adrenal gland (the size of a Christmas ham), and it needed to be removed immediately. After a 12-hour surgery, the incredible team at OHSU had succesfully removed the tumor, along with my adrenal gland, spleen, and kidney.
9 months later, a small spot showed up - radiation therapy
3 months later, tumors appeared in my liver - extreme chemotherapy treatment
9 months later, tumors appeared in my lungs - immunotherapy
12 months later, a tumor appeared on my spine, other adrenal gland, and lymphnodes
No treatments had been successful, so I was entered into the clincial trials system.
For a year and a half, the cancer continued to progress despite having gone through two different trials for rare cancers. My doctor told me there was nothing more she could offer.
So, I reached out to MD Anderson, the #1 Cancer Center in America. They gave my family and I hope again, they have a trial for me, they have specialists who understand my illness, they are ready to fight with me. And I'm not ready to give up the fight.
A one in a 10 million type of cancer messed with a one in a billion type of person.
That's why I'm here, I need your help.
Unfortunately, life doesn't stop when you're handed hardship. Traveling to and from Houston from my home in Las Vegas, paying for medical expenses and bills, covering the costs of airfare and rideshares, in addition to food, lodging and gas, is a heavy burden.
Any donation will lessen this burden for not only myself, but my wife and family, as we continue this journey to fight what they've said is an incurable cancer.
Help me get to Houston, and let's fight this together!
