Angel’s name is fitting as she has been caring for people her entire life and as a nurse for 20 years.

As a young single mother in her early 20’s, she raised her daughter and her 5 year old sister by herself with no one to help her after losing both her parents. She worked long hard hours as a bartender while putting herself through nursing school in hopes of a brighter future.

To Angel family always comes first. Nothing is more important than the example she sets for her children, which is why she lost her job standing up for what she believes in.

She declined the Covid jab because she felt that the way the hospital was bullying the staff into getting it was wrong. Angel refuses to let her children see her compromise her beliefs in order to keep a job.

She will not give into bullying or intimidation. Angel is a true badass.

During the toughest Covid outbreak in New York City when everything was absolute mayhem, Angel worked the Covid unit risking her life to save thousands of patients. During that time, the hospital provided her with only 1 mask for several days. Although this put her at high risk of catching Covid herself, she did everything she could to save lives and connect families, including putting her face inches from dying Covid patients daily to help them Zoom and FaceTime with their loved ones. Her commitment to her job and patients is indisputable.

Now, like many nurses throughout the country who were considered heroic essential workers at the start of the pandemic, and after 20 years of loyal dedication to her profession, Angel is being discarded.

Angel and I have been best friends since we were 12 years old. She and her parents took me in and treated me like family. I don't know where I would be today without them.

I’m creating this Go Fund Me for her on her birthday and without her knowledge because she’s not used to getting any help, and would never ask for any. Being from New York and having had a challenging life, she’s a proud person with a tough exterior, but inside she is the kindest human ever. Anyone who knows Angel knows that she is the most generous soul. She regularly spends many of her paychecks on veterinary bills, saving stray cats and dogs, and loves them without measure. She’s been that way for as long as Ive known her. She is a giver and the time has come to give back.

Calling all friends (new, old, and current), all donations big and small will be greatly appreciated. Angel will use the money to figure out how to move forward and start all over again. As the prime breadwinner of her family, she has mortgage payments, car payments, credit cards, and now she has to provide health insurance for herself and her children. The bills are many and I’m sure they are adding up. In all the years I’ve known Angel, I have never heard her complain about any of her hardships and responsibilities. When everyone was scared of catching Covid, she always put on a brave face, showed up to work, and focused on saving lives . She is a true hero to her family and the many patients she's helped.
