HeroClix Community Leader Clay Wood Relief Fund

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Rob Peterson. I've known and talked to so many of you so very often in the 23 years I've been actively involved in the HeroClix Community. Yesterday evening I had it brought to my attention that one member of our community is in need of our help, and I was asked if myself or my store could help in any way. I decided right then and there that I wouldn't just donate some meager belongings to help him, but instead I set forth to spearhead fundraising and an eventual event to raise up a community member in need.

The game of HeroClix has many people that support it and the community, but the ones like Clay Wood are few and far between. Clay has built a tool for this community in the form of his HCUnits.Net website that most if not all of us use to maximize our enjoyment of this game. He did so without any form of compensation or seeking any kind of acknowledgment. He did it because he saw a need in the community and because he knew he had something to contribute.

With his hard work, we've gotten a comprehensive team builder that not only helps us make our teams, but it also gathers win/loss data on each individual game piece, keeps track of what is currently in the meta, allows a place for venues to create a profile and to run events, and so much more! Though I was a late adopter to the site, I have met Clay on many occasions and know that he is just a generally and genuinely nice guy! I would be remiss if I didn't try to help him in his time of need.

There are very few people that can GENUINELY be called "Pillars of the Community" but I honestly wouldn't hesitate to call Clay Wood one of them.

Though I have talked to Clay a number of times over the years, I wouldn't go so far as to say that we know each other very well at all, but given my own position within the community, I felt that I was in a somewhat unique position to use my standing to be a voice to help he and his family.

WHY DOES CLAY NEED OUR HELP?

The Wildfires in California have taken a lot from a lot of people, and as of yesterday, Clay and his family were among the number of people that have unfortunately joined the ranks of the many who have lost everything (And on his birthday of all days). The fires swept through and took all of his Earthly posessions leaving the family uprooted and needing our help. Clay and his family are all safe and accounted for and are in relatively good spirits, but it's now our time to step up and help him if for ANY other reason than it is what our community is known for. When the chips are down, we SHOW UP and SHOW OUT for each other.

If we don't, as a community, help someone who has done so much FOR the community, then what business do we really have bandying that "Community" so much?

If you've ever had the pleasure of meeting or talking to Clay or have ever gotten use out of his wonderful site, PLEASE consider donating to help him and his family out

THANK YOU in advance for all of your help!

-Rob
