Heroes Wear Tie Dye Blood Drive and Block Party
Donation protected
In 2022, Joe Cooper, prolific tie dye artist and beloved member of the community, was shot during a home invasion while protecting his wife. The difference in his arrival alive to the emergency room was a single unit of donated blood given during the ambulance ride. Our community came out in force to participate in four blood drives throughout the city. The response was outstanding! So many blood donations were collected that not only was the metro area supply replenished, but blood was made available to the patients in need due to the school shooting in San Antonio that occurred the next day.
Summertime is when donations traditionally dwindle, although the need increases. One donation can help save the lives of three people.
Heroes Wear Tie Dye Blood Drive and Block Party plans to be an annual event with music, artists, vendors, demonstrations, Kid's Creative tent as well as a Blood Drive. This year it takes place Sunday, June 11th, 1-7 pm in front of the world-famous Maple Leaf Bar in the 8300 Block of Oak Street, New Orleans, LA
We are asking for donations to assist in hosting this Blood Drive and Block Party. The costs include the permits, staging, musicians, insurance and law enforcement necessary to host this event.
Please consider being a hero by donating to help us make a difference.
