On June 14, 2018, Steve Herren passed away after a year-long battle with colon cancer.

The loss of such an extraordinary person, husband, father, brother, son, and friend so early in his life is an unimaginable tragedy.

Other than the obvious physical signs, one would never know he was in the midst of an arduous journey. Steve had the ability to make everyone around him feel good with his humor and sarcasm, despite the odds he was facing.

A few days earlier, in the presence of the chaplain and social worker, Steve’s family and friends surrounded his bed at what they thought were their final moments together. Everyone held hands as they held back tears while saying their heartbreaking good-bye’s. Then, in the middle of a somber prayer lead by the chaplain, Steve slowly opened his eyes and said, “NOPE!”

This is the kind of person Steve has been throughout his life. He always had an optimistic attitude and was armed with quick-witted one liners to make light of even the most impossible situations.

Steve’s unwavering commitment to family, his passion for sports, and love for his sons Jackson and Carson were evident to everyone who knew him. For as long as his body let him and up to his final days, he was still showing up at their games come rain or shine. His positive attitude, kindness, and fierce fighting spirit are traits that we can all try to emulate and remember. We can honor his legacy through support of his family as they navigate the next phase of their journey.

Steve was a blessing to all who knew him.  His smile and laughter will live on with his amazing boys Carson and Jackson. 100% of the proceeds from this campaign will be donated to them and his loving wife, Lisa. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
