Herrera Family Fundraiser

Jessica and I have been best friends since I can remember. We grew up on the softball field, shared clothes, partied, got through college….we found love, married and welcomed our babies together, always no further than a phone call away (or text message for those of y’all who know me). Well, today I find myself by her side, during one of the most painful times in her life, and I’m asking everyone to join me.

 

Jess is married to an amazing man, Armando. They share two beautiful little girls, Aubree and Avery. Both of them are fairly private people, so guys, don’t be mad at me for doing this. I love you.

 

Nearly 2 years ago, Armando was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. Given an initial 6 months, he has fought hard, through doctor visits, treatments, good news, bad news, work, birthdays, holidays, and yes, UTSA football tailgates! Even through the pain, he continues to be the positive and supportive rock for his family.

 

With that being said, it pains my heart to share he has not been doing well these last few weeks and has been admitted to the VA hospital under hospice care with liver failure. Doctors and family are doing everything they can to keep him comfortable, with no treatment.

 

So, as everyone prepares for whatever it is God has planned for Armando, I’m starting this fundraiser for them, not only seeking monetary support, but prayers, good thoughts, any positive vibes you can send their way. Keep them in your hearts, appreciate every day you spend with your loved ones, and always believe HE has a plan for everyone.
