I am the Post Commander at the Hershey American Legion Post 386. This is the building and property that Milton Hershey passed over the deed to us over 60 years ago. We’ve been honored to be responsible for the upkeep and welfare of the property. It is a historic building.
We are a small post with Veterans, Auxiliary, Sons, and Riders memberships and we have a social club. We get income from the rental properties (use to be Milton Hershey chauffeur's house and garages). We get a small income from memberships. However, the majority of our income is from the social club and with Covid, that has mostly stopped (we do a food take-out on Monday-Wednesday to try to make ends meet). See below our FaceBook Page.

As you can see below in the Derry Township Memorial Day video, I gave a virtual speech from the facility and honored past (mostly WW2) veterans who served their country but were also Hershey employees.

We’ve never been in this position before and usually we are giving out donations to veterans and local area groups.
Prior to Covid, our accounts were over $25,000 and growing. But as of today, our accounts are under $10,000 and quickly falling with no end in sight with going green and opening again. We are still paying our manager, taxes, utilities, and property upkeep.
In the end, we are seeking ways to make ends meet and our leadership team thought a gofundme would work to generate revenue to stay afloat. We are trying to be proactive. Even small donations $10-$20 is welcome.
This is NOT for improvements at the Legion, but purely to stay positive financially so we are ready to serve our veterans and community once this epidemic passes.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
