In Memory of Tow Operator Jesse "Bil" Hettmann
Bil was a dad, husband, brother, son and emergency responder. He lost his life January 11, 2019 while helping a stranded motorist along the highway. He leaves behind the love of his life, Danielle, 3-year-old Cordelia, and 4-month-old Mirabelle.
Every day, tow truck operators, police, paramedics, and firefighters put their own lives on the line in service of others. Bil had proudly driven tow trucks for nine years, bringing aid and humor to people stuck in terrible situations. He had a superhero's heart and did whatever he could for everyone he met.
Bil loved being a dad and husband. Weekends were always spent with family going on rides at Bay Beach, exploring the Wildlife Sanctuary, playing with his daughters, and completing projects around their house. Funds raised from this GoFundMe will go directly to Danielle, Cordelia, and Mirabelle.
A towing operator dies every six days while on the job. If you see an emergency vehicle on the side of the road, please move over and slow down so that everyone can make it home to their families at the end of the day.
Friends may gather to celebrate Bil's life at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere after 2:30 p.m. on Friday January 18. A service will start at 6:30 p.m.
On Monday, January 14, friends may also attend the Light’em up for Jesse (Honor Run) in West De Pere.
