Hey Sport, R U OK? A Goalkeeper’s Mission

I am so excited to have been afforded the opportunity to be a ‘Hey Sport, R U OK? Champion for Season 2022, where I will be able to, through my position as a Senior Goalkeeper with South Australian NPL Football (soccer) Club, FK Beograd (White City Beograd FC), help to ‘spread the message’, that sometimes you just need to make sure that you have a chat with a team mate and ask the very simple question, ‘Hey Sport, R U OK?
Part of my role will also be to help bring awareness on how to recognise the signs that someone in the club may be struggling with life’s ups and downs and how to have an R U OK? Conversation. This I will be doing by chatting with, training with and being involved with all levels, right from the youngest of our junior teams through to our Amateur sides, our Women’s teams and our Semi-Professional team, of which I am a part of. I will also be looking to spread this through to other clubs in our competition to ensure we get some wider coverage of the very important R U OK? message.
This has become really important to me, as recently, my family lost a very dear friend, my Godfather, to suicide. To say this was a shock to everyone is an understatement and the devastation that has been felt by his family and friends will be there for many years to come…you just never know what somebody is really going through and that is why, the R U OK? message is so very important.
As part of my involvement this season, we will also be undertaking a fundraising campaign in order to raise some very needed funds for R U OK?
Central to our marketing is the branding of my Goalkeeping Gloves with the ‘Hey Sport, R U OK? logo, something that we feel will bring a great opportunity to get some media coverage to further spread the message and also hope that it will help in me being able to keep a few balls out of the back of the net.

To kick things off we just have a small goal of $600 to cover the costs associated with the production of the gloves…thankfully, my glove supplier has been really kind and manufactured these special gloves at a much reduced price.
Please note that donations made in this first phase are not tax deductible. Once we reach the initial $600 we will create a new page where all fundraising will go straight to R U OK? and you will be able to claim a tax deduction.
