Brianna (McGuire) Thomas needs our help! We think her words say it best so, in case you are not aware, here is what is going on:
"Hey everyone. I know many of you know I have had some health issues recently and I wanted to give everyone an update. I think this is the most difficult part of it all, letting everyone know. I've been putting it off because I feel posting this is fully accepting the reality of what's going on and I'm not quite to that point. Last month I found out I have colon cancer. We had been waiting for some results to come back and I found out I have Lynch Syndrome as well. It is a mutation in my genes that causes cancers to form more easily than most people and also causes them to form much quicker. Colon cancer is the most common with Lynch Syndrome, but I can get about any cancer very easily and quickly and will have to screen for them every year as my genes do not heal or "fix" the cancer causing cells like they should. Right now, I have surgery scheduled to remove my entire colon on October 2nd and will be out for about 1-2 months. I'm not sure what stage my cancer is at and what treatments I will have until after the surgery. I know I don't want anyone to feel like I am being short with them, but some days I just don't want to talk about it and some days I am perfectly fine talking about it. So if you ever feel like I'm not being open about it, I may just be having a rough day, so please don't take it personally. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them as best I can. Just asking for prayers for myself and my family as we go through this difficult time."
Please consider making a donation to Bri and her family to help offset the cost of medical expenses and what could be a long recovery. This page has been set up by her coaches and teammates from Sunrise Christian Academy Lady Buffaloes Basketball team. She went to battle with us on the court many, many times. Help us stand behind her in this fight.
