Eduardo Bermudez was a leader. Ricardo Lara was a 57 year old working man who dedicated his life to his family.
In 2006, Eduardo joined LA CAUSA YouthBuild with the goal of transforming his life, family, and community. In one year, Eduardo and his peers retrofited low-income homes, volunteered hours upon hours during the week and weekends to help community organizations that address issues of poverty, pollution, and educational justice. He quickly grew into one of the most active and vocal leaders in the YouthBuild program and the community. Since then, he has continued to be an active leader.
Ricardo Lara, 57, was a beloved partner to Albania Morales, a father of a son and a daughter, and a grandfather. He was a gifted maintenance worker, and was admired for the work he did in the community including at the respected housing development corporation, TELACU
The community of East Los Angeles describe both of them as peaceful, humble and caring individuals who were always willing to lend a helping hand to a neighbor.
On Sunday, November 16th, Eduardo and Ricardo were shot and killed by the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department. There have been several conflicting and misleading stories being said by the Sheriffs Department and the Media. Witnesses and evidence tell a completely different story. The families have acquired attorneys and are launching their own investigations.
Several organizations and community leaders are coming together to help raise funds for Eduardo's and Ricardo's family and support the family during the investigation and the the steps that will follow. Please join us in supporting.
