Homeless, Injured, and Running out of Options
Donation protected
My name is Tina Heater. Until recently, my family and I, including my children, ages 2 and 4, were living together in a townhouse. We took in family friends who were homeless with their children. Unfortunately, we were evicted for being over the number of people allowed to live in the home. I went to a shelter in Clermont County to seek emergency shelter for my children and me. The only shelter in Clermont County (other than the YWCA) has closed its door and is putting people in a local motel. We arrived on Halloween and immediately saw that the floors were cracked. We told the owner about the cracks and nothing happened. On November 8 when I was checking on the kids' food in the microwave, the cracked floor gave out beneath me, and I fell into the hole to my waist. We were able to call 911 and the ambulance took me to the hospital. The health inspector came out and examined the hole. She said the hole was ten feet deep and would have been very dangerous had one of my children fallen through. I injured my leg and my shoulder. The owner has been harassing me not to sue. I have tried almost every shelter possible but Clermont County has no options for emergency shelter and Hamilton County has a huge waitlist. I have been doing everything I can. My children work with an intervention specialist and we receive resources from her. I am asking for help as the holidays are coming and I am worried about being in this motel with my children. It is not a safe situation and we must be out by the 29th of November. Thank you for taking the time to read this... any donation will help.
