"Good Neighbors Make Good Fences" at Hidden Hills
Donation protected
Once upon a farm, there were three sisters who got to grow up together on the property known to many now as Hidden Hills Farm. We all enjoyed horses to some extent, but it was Tara who truly fell in love with them. And as life would have it, she was the one who returned to the farm to share that love with countless others. As Tara’s younger sisters, we’ve been so proud to watch her use her gifts and talents to minister to so many. Through horse boarding, riding lessons, trail rides, short-term farm stays, Play Days, outdoor education, summer camps, and daily chores, she and her family have created a "little piece of heaven" and welcomed the community into their lives to experience the horses and farm life she loves.
But, alas, life brings change, sometimes very unwanted and significant. The farmland Hidden Hills sits on is being sold for housing development. While we all feel this loss of our homeland, it has affected Tara the most, as she has to move both home and business. She and her family have done all they can to prepare for the move, but the truth is that they are a small business making it work day by day. Not only that, but they are pretty far down the line of people who will see any financial benefit from the sale of the current land and have to do this move on their own.
Many of you--the community at Hidden Hills, and our extended family of sorts--have asked if there’s anything you can do to help with the transition those at the farm are facing. Well, yes, actually, there is something…
A beautiful new property just down the road has been purchased so they can continue to share the experience of horses and farming. However, the property is a blank slate. Tara and her husband have created a master plan for Hidden Hills “2.0”, starting with an estimated 26,000’ of fencing! At around $4/linear foot for supplies, the project will cost around $100,000 (labor not included).
If you’d like to help them get Hidden Hills Farm going again on the new property, it would be such a blessing! All donations will go towards the fencing project so that the horses, sheep, goats, and all the other animals you love can move over to the new farm. Any funds received beyond this goal will go towards the next projects--barns, arenas, water lines, electricity . . .
Honestly, even though many have offered their help, it still feels very awkward to ask others for money, so we’ve come up with a little way to say "thank you" in return!
- Gifts of $100 or more: we’ll recognize you on a "Good NEIGHbor" plaque that will be displayed at the main barn.
- Gifts of $250 or more will "sponsor a fence post": We'll put an individualized metal plate on a fence post in your honor.
- Gifts of $1000 or more: We'll recognize you on a "Pasture Nameplate"! (We have 15 five-acre pastures marked on the property, and every $5000 (ish) will fence in another pasture.)
Of course, a gift of any size is a blessing and greatly appreciated! Thank you SO much for demonstrating that sometimes “Good Neighbors Make Good Fences!”
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Mandi and Bekki (Tara’s sisters)
