High Ridge Chargers Equipment Fire Relief
Tax deductible
It is with a heavy heart that we write to inform you of a catastrophic event that occurred early on the morning of March 6th. A stolen car was abandoned next to our storage container and set on fire, creating a raging blaze that swept through our beloved football team’s equipment storage facility. The flames consumed everything in their path: practice equipment, training bags, tackling dummies, cheer tumbling mats, whiteboards, and so much more. The smell of burnt leather and scorched turf now hangs heavily in the air, a painful reminder of what once was.
The Chargers have been empowering the youth of the North Side and surrounding communities through football and cheerleading since 1959. Our program aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children between the ages of 5-14 can learn valuable life skills, foster teamwork, and develop a passion for team sports. Football and cheerleading have the incredible power to instill discipline, build character, and promote physical fitness, all of which contribute to the holistic development of our youth.
Our team’s spirit has always been unyielding, fueled by passion and camaraderie while being led 100% by community volunteers. We’ve faced opponents on the field, battled through injuries, and celebrated victories together. But today, we face an adversary unlike any other—the inferno that devoured our gear.
As we assess the damage, we mourn not just the loss of equipment, but also the intangible bonds that formed during practices. The laughter, the pep talks, the late-night strategy sessions—all reduced to smoldering ruins.
What’s Next?
1. Emergency Fundraiser: We are launching an emergency fundraiser to replace the equipment. Every dollar counts, and we implore our community to rally behind us during this challenging time.
2. Temporary Solutions: Our coaches are working tirelessly to secure temporary gear for upcoming practices. We may not have our old practice equipment, but our determination remains unwavering.
3. Community Support: We need your support now more than ever. Reach out to local businesses, sponsors, and fellow football enthusiasts. Let them know that our team needs their assistance.
4. Rebuilding Our Spirit: While the flames took our physical gear, they cannot extinguish our spirit. We will rise from the ashes, stronger and more resilient. Our team is not defined by equipment; it’s defined by heart.
