High Street Cleanup and Off-ramp Garden Support

The High Street Coalition, a group of passionate volunteers and neighbors in the Laurel, Allendale, and Maxwell Park (LAMP) neighborhoods of East Oakland is raising money to support neighborhood cleanups and to establish and maintain an off-ramp garden at the 580 High Street exit to welcome people to the neighborhood.  

 

Things to know:

1) We are continuing our bi-monthly clean-ups on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. Last clean-up we had 20 volunteers!
2) The Laurel District Association is our fiscal sponsor - so your donation is tax-deductible.
3) We are officially "adopting" the 580E High Street exit through the CalTrans Adopt-a-Highway program.
4) Garden plans are underway:  picture a lovely garden of native, drought-tolerant plants and succulents welcoming you home.
5) Our first workday will be Sat. 2/26 from 8:30am-1pm.
6) We have an Instagram, website, and a group on Nextdoor. Please join, like, and help us spread the word!
7) We are getting encouragement and support from many sides:  Oakland Neighborhood Services, District 4 (Sheng Thao's office), District 6 (Loren Taylor's office), neighborhood groups including the Laurel Village Association, and neighbors offering up cuttings and plants.
