Highland Inspire: The Book!
Donation protected
Our charity initiative, Highland Inspire, has been on the go now for almost two years: we've made a magazine, a website, and now we'd like to turn all o our hard into an actual book! Our book will bring together all the best from our magazine, plus lots more in personal essays on disability, interviews, and so much more! Awareness of disabilities and additional support needs (ASN) is so important, now more than ever, and we do all that we can to improve the state of awareness in Scotland and beyond.
But to do that, we need your help...
Publishing a book is an expensive process: there are printing costs editing fees, cover design, promotion, and so much more for us to think about. We're a very small team, and we're doing our best to raise funds ourselves (such as with our upcoming music event). Still, even the smallest of donations will help us realise our dream of a book, and even hopefully support local artists and businesses in the process!
How will the money be used?
- Print costs. We want to produce a physical print book (with an e-book version also available, of course) which could be sold online and in shops.
- Artwork. We are currently reaching out to local artists about commissioning some visual content for the book. We feel that this will improve accessibility for all ages and abilities and that having illustrations will also reflect many of the themes discussed.
- Editing & Design Fees. The book will need to be proofread by a professional, and we will be consulting a designer about layout of both the book's content, and its outer covers.
- ISBN. We will need to purchase an ISBN for our book in order for bookshops to sell it.
- Publicity. Some of the money raised may also be used to help pay for Facebook Ads, website maintenance, and other forms of advertising.
- Additional Content. If we manage to raise enough money, we will also be looking into making an audiobook, or holding some kind of launch event for when we finally get to publish.
We are not a business or a non-profit, but we are trying to do some good with this project, and we hope that you'll consider supporting us in this by sharing our cause and donating if you can. For more information about why we do what we do, you can visit our website or Facebook page. Thank you.
