Highlanders Football Club Debt Clearance
Donation protected

On returning home, Rhodes Khumalo decided to continue playing soccer, a sport he had greatly liked and mastered back at Loveday Institute in the Cape Province. He went on to form a team called Lions Football Club, mainly comprised of boys from Bulawayo`s Old Location (Makokoba). The club was launched in one of the homesteads then (now Siphambaniso Flats). Among the team’s members were Charlton Ngcebetsha, Nsele Hlabangana, Albert and Rhodes Khumalo to name just a few.
In 1936 the club changed its name to Matabeleland Highlanders. The club used to hold its meetings in Old Location (Makokoba) office after working hours.
Eager to see unity among Zimbabweans, the late Vice President Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo played an influential role in the change of the regionally inclined names soon after his release from prison in 1973. The club then changed its name to Highlanders Football Club.
Over the past couple of seasons the club has been failing to meet all operational costs resulting in accumulation debt
This project is aimed at all supporters around the globe to come together and contribute towards funds that will clear the debt. We will embark on this campaign with the aim of bring financial stability back to the club.
We should contribute to secure the future of the club, build a legacy and inheritance for our future generations. The continuous develop of soccer at the club is dependent on your contribution
Please note that the debt is already paid half way by many other supporters of Highlanders especially in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Let us all stand up and be counted as we together clear the debt. Thank you all for your Club support.
