5-Peak Hike Challenge for Farm Animal Refuge
Tax deductible
Thank you for taking the time to read about a cause and a local organization that is dear to our heart.
We (Amit, Camila, Jared, Shruti, Stacy, Andreina, Subhashani) are a group of friends that love animals. A lot of us have/had dogs and cats that have brought pure joy to our lives. That love and care for our dogs/cats has blossomed into a love and care for all animals. Unfortunately, today not all animals get the same love and care that our dogs/cats get. In fact, 80 billion land animals each year are tortured before being inhumanely slaughtered. We hope that each one of us doing our own small part can bring an end to these unnecessary atrocities.
As a small step in that direction, we are raising funds for a small local organization that does amzaing work for farm animals. Farm Animal Refuge (FAR) (insta, FB) is an agricultural animal rescue focusing on abused/ neglected/ and unwanted farm animals while educating the public on the benefits of compassionate living and a plant based diet. FAR sits just an hour outside of San Diego on a 10 acre plot housing almost 100 lovely animals. It is run by Jordan (founder), Matt (co-founder) , Caryle (Jordan's sister), Jordan's parents, and countless others.
A lot of us regularly visit and volunteer at the farm and it is clear that for the FAR family the animals are the first priority above anything else. They get the best possible food, shelter, and medical treatment. But most of all they receive a safe haven and endless amounts of love. Having gotten to know the FAR team - Jordan and team are the best versions of humans. It is truly a community and a family that we feel lucky to be a part of.
So, to support FAR, we will be hiking the infamous Mission Trails 5-Peak challenge in one day. It is ~15 miles of hiking and none of us are expert hikers. However, all of us are motivated to conquer this challenge for a cause that we deeply care about!
We will raise $2,000 for two FAR projects. $1500 will be used to build a goat platform for hiking. Just like hiking brings joy to humans, it will bring so much joy for the goats (Betty & Sabrina pictured). $500 will be used for more bushes and enrichment items for the new aviary. Out of 80 billion animals slaughtered every year, a majority of them are chickens. We hope for the FAR rescued birds (chickens/turkeys) - these small enhancements make their lives even better.
We appreciate all of you and if you donate please leave your email - so we can personally thank you!
