Hiking the PCT to END VET SUICIDE!
Hello, my name is Alexander Seling. I'm a US Army Veteran, I served with 2-27 Infantry (25th ID) in Iraq as a combat medic.
Starting March 29th, I am going to be thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada for Veteran Suicide Awareness. I am going to be campaigning over the 5 month journey to raise funds for Mission 22 , a non-profit charity that has a truly benevolent vision and experience with properly allocating large amounts of money wisely into the proper channels. They are focused on raising awareness of the veteran suicide issue (because the problem can only be solved if we are made aware of it), and they offer groundbreaking treatments of different types to veterans.
I have personally considered suicide countless times since getting out of the military, and I have lost several brothers in arms to suicide as well. It's a very personal subject to me because I know what its like to be there feeling like there's nothing that can be done and the simplest thing to end the suffering is to take your life. After years of suffering, my struggles eventually lead me to take a massive action of love instead of a massive act of self-destruction.
As I traverse the wild, untamed landscape of the West, I am going to be documenting my journey as I go, by making frequent posts to Instagram, regular vlogs to YouTube and countless images and videos to Facebook, as well as paid advertisements on multiple platforms. When I reach various towns, I will be editing and pushing out all of the content from that stretch of the journey.
My goal is to raise $100,000 through this campaign for the cause. The first portion of that $100,000 will fund the journey AND the online advertisement campaign for veteran suicide awareness. Initial funds (due to the extended length of the journey, approx. $8,500) will cover the cost of the journey and ALL funds exceeding the trip costs will be donated directly to Mission 22. Mission 22 has offered to promote the quest on all social media so make sure to follow them for updates also.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and generosity. It really means the world to me! I'd like to ask that if you feel moved by this purposeful journey, please share this campaign, because even that can save a life, believe it or not. Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Alexander Seling
