Hi everyone,
I'm Wendy, and I serve as a regional manager for SBFM, a soft facilities management company.
Hilary, one of my team members at a site in Westbury, tragically lost his life in a road traffic accident while cycling back to work about a month ago. He is survived by his wife and their 5-year-old daughter.
The young family had relocated from Nigeria to settle in the UK, and at the time of the accident, both parents were diligently working to secure a promising future for their beloved child.
It's difficult for any of us to truly grasp what Mercy, Hilary's wife, is enduring right now. Coping in such a situation is incredibly challenging, even with a strong support system of friends and family. Imagine how much more difficult it is for Mercy, who is alone in the UK. Although she has a full-time job, she cannot currently work due to a lack of childcare for her daughter. Previously, both parents managed to balance their jobs with shared childcare responsibilities, fully supporting their family without any state assistance. The loss of such an essential partner has created an overwhelming challenge for Mercy. She is now left to arrange the funeral, manage her finances to support herself and her daughter, and navigate this all on her own, without friends, family, or any government aid.
I want to reach out to as many people as possible for both financial assistance and emotional support. If anyone has faced a similar situation and can offer any help, it would be immensely valuable.
Additionally, if you are aware of any childcare services that might be willing to assist her, that would make a significant difference in ways you can't imagine.
Without the ability to return to work, Mercy faces a dire situation. Her visa prohibits her from accessing any state support for five years, and she has only been in the UK for one year so far.
