Am 21. März 2023 hat das Parlament in Uganda ein Gesetz beschlossen, welches für Homosexualität gar die Todesstrafe verhängt. Bereits vor dem Beschluss zeigte sich eine neue Welle von Homophobie und Transfeindlichkeit. Allein im Februar haben LGBTIQA+ Personen in Uganda 110 Vorfälle an die NGO Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) gemeldet, darunter Verhaftungen, sexuelle Übergriffe, Zwangsräumungen und Übergriffe von Mobs, die ihre Opfer in der Öffentlichkeit entblössten. Das Gesetz bringt die Community zusätzlich in Gefahr indem es Vermieter:innen mit Gefängnisstrafen droht, wenn sie an LGBTIQA+ Personen vermieten.
Mit finanzieller Unterstützung von internationalen religiösen Gruppierungen werden in Zeitungen, Radio-Talkshows und auf Social Media Hass und Fehlinformationen in Uganda verbreitet. Fundamentalistische religiöse Gruppierungen setzen Homosexualität mit Pädophilie gleich und verbreiten moralische Panik, um angeblich zum «Schutz der Kinder» gegen die LGBTIQA+ Community zu hetzen.
Wir sind ein Zusammenschluss von LGBTIQA+ Aktivist*innen in und um Uganda und Allies in Europa aus Kunst und Aktivismus, die dieses GoFundMe organisieren, um Personen vor Ort zu unterstützen. Das Geld geht an die in Reaktion auf eine Welle der Gewalt in Uganda gegründete Plattform hashtagwhatnext, welche LGBTIQA+ Personen vor Ort bei Folgendem unterstützt:
-Kaution für inhaftierte LGBTIQA+ Personen
-Umzug an sicherere Orte
-Organisation und Finanzierung von Notunterkünften in Uganda
-Kosten für medizinische Behandlungen und Gerichstkosten
-Reisekosten und Visa für jene, die das Land verlassen
-Aufbau einer Notunterkunft in Südafrika
Das Fundraising Ziel deckt die Kosten von LGBTIQA+ Personen in Notsituationen, die hashtagwhatnext bereits um Unterstützung ersucht haben. Das Fundraising Ziel wird angepasst, während mehr Anfragen um Unterstützung eingehen. Updates über bereits verteilte Gelder findet ihr auf den Social-Media-Kanälen von hashtagwhatnext.

DeLovie Kwagala (they/them) ist Menschenrechtsaktivist*in und Ugandas erste*r non-binäre*r queere*r Fotograf*in. They ist Gründer*in der Plattform hashtagwhatnext, die in Reaktion auf das Anti-Homosexualitäts-Gesetzes Informationen verbreitet, Fundraising betreibt und Personen vor Ort unterstützt.

Tropikahl Ivy St. Laurent aka Ivy Monteiro (keine/sie) ist Afro-Brazilianische nonbinäre Kunstschaffende, Choreograph*in, Mother des House of Poderosa, im Iconic House of St.Laurent und Gründer*in des Trans Safety Emergency Fund in der Schweiz.
Jordi Mani aka Mani Tapes (er/sie) ist non-binäre:r DJ und Organisator:in trans-dissidenter Events in Barcelona. Als Teil der Kollektive Katarsis 25 und Don’t Hit a la Negra unterstützt er die LGBTIQA+ Community mit breitgefächerten kulturellen und musikalischen Angeboten.

On March 21, 2023 Uganda’s parliament passed a bill imposing even the death penalty for homosexuality. In the run up to the bill’s passing, a new wave of anti-gay animus has taken hold. In February alone more than 110 LGBTQIA+ Ugandans reported incidents including arrests, sexual violence, evictions and public undressing to the advocacy group Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG). The bill further puts LGBTQIA+ people at risk by threatening landlords who rent to them with imprisonment.
Funded by international religious groups, newspapers, radio talk shows, and social media in Uganda have become saturated with hate speech and disinformation. Fundamentalist religious groups blur the line between homosexuality and pedophilia. With this deception they manufacture moral panic around child protection rhetoric and mobilise it against LGBTIQA+ people.
We are a group of LGBTIQA+ activists in and around Uganda and allies in Europe from the arts, electronic music and the activist community who organise this GoFundMe. In reaction to the new wave of violence LGBTIQA+ people are facing the platform hashtagwhatnext was founded to directly support at risk individuals in Uganda. The money raised helps hashtagwhatnext to pay for costs such as:
• Bail for LGBTQIA+ people imprisoned
• Relocating to safer areas
• Organizing and financing shelter
• Medical and legal fees
• Visa and transportation costs for those leaving the country
• Building a new shelter in South Africa
The fundraising goal covers the needs of LGBTIQA+ Ugandans in emergency situations who have already reached out to hashtagwhatnext for support. The fundraising goal will be updated as more people reach out for support. You will find updates about the money already distributed on hashtagwhatnext’s social media.

About us:
DeLovie Kwagala (they/them) is a human rights activist and the first nonbinary queer photographer in Uganda. They are founder of hashtagwhatnext, a platform responding to the recent passing of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill through fundraising and information sharing.
Noah Frank (they/them) is a nonbinary queer person from Austria, member of VENIB (association for nonbinary people) and activist for developing a gender neutral grammar.
jean foncé (they/he) is a queer agender poet, dj and cultural worker based in switzerland. they are currently studying process design at fhnw and are a member of OKRA, a collective of multidisciplinary afro-descendant creatives.

El 21 de marzo de 2023, el parlamento de Uganda aprobó un proyecto de ley que impuso la pena de muerte por homosexualidad. En el período previo a la aprobación del proyecto de ley, se ha afianzado una nueva ola nacional de animadversión contra los homosexuales. Solo en febrero, más de 110 ugandeses LGBTQIA+ denunciaron incidentes que incluyen arrestos, violencia sexual, desalojos y vejaciones como la desnudez pública al grupo de defensa Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG).
El proyecto de ley pone aún más en riesgo a las personas LGBTQIA+ al amenazar a los propietarios que les alquilan sus viviendas con pena de encarcelamiento.
Financiado por grupos religiosos internacionales, periódicos, programas de radio locución y las redes sociales en Uganda,los medios se han saturado de discursos de odio y desinformación. Los grupos religiosos fundamentalistas desdibujan la línea entre la homosexualidad y la pedofilia. Con este engaño fabrican un pánico moral en torno a la retórica de protección infantil y la movilizan contra las personas LGBTIQA+.
Somos un grupo de activistas LGBTIQA+ en Uganda ,Sudáfrica y aliados en Europa, de las artes, la música electrónica y la comunidad activista quienes organizamos este GoFundMe. En reacción a la nueva ola de violencia que las personas LGBTIQA+ se enfrentan, la plataforma hashtagwhatnext fue fundada para apoyar directamente a las personas en riesgo residentes en Uganda. El dinero recaudado ayudará a hashtagwhatnext a sufragar costos como:
• Fianza para personas LGBTQIA+ encarceladas
• Reubicación en áreas más seguras
• Organización y financiación de la vivienda
• Honorarios médicos y legales
• Costos de visa y transporte para quienes salen del país
• Construcción de un nuevo centro refugio en Sudáfrica
El objetivo de recaudación de fondos cubre las necesidades de los ugandeses LGBTIQA+ en situaciones de emergencia que ya se han comunicado con hashtagwhatnext para obtener apoyo.

DeLovie Kwagala (ellos/ellas/elles) es activista de derechos humanos y la primera persona queer no binaria en Uganda en ser reconocida por su fotografía.
