Help after wildfires in southern Portugal

Hallo liebe Freunde und Mitmenschen, am Samstag den 17/07/2021 ist in folge eines verheerenden Waldbrandes hier in Südportugal (Mexilhoeira Grande-Portimao) die Existenz unserer kleinen 4 köpfigen Familie abgebrannt. Wir heißen Felix(34)und Jovita(37)und haben 2 süße Jungs, Samu(8) und Timo(3).
Wir arbeiten seit 2008 in Hinsicht auf ein unabhängiges Leben im Einklang mit der Natur an unserem Projekt Monte Octogon: Permakultur Gärten Projekte, Aufforstung der immer trockener werdenden Gegend durch Feuer resistentere Bäume(Medronho,Korkeichen)anlegen neuer Stauseen für die unabhängige Wasserversorgung/Bewässerung, Ständige Erweiterung des Bewässerungssystem sowohl als Feuerschutz als auch zur Förderung des Grundwasserlevels, der Bau eines großen 8 eckigem Holzhauses als zentrum des Projekts und Gemeinschafts Küche/Wohnzimmer für Familie und freiwillige Helfer aus aller Welt die wir seit einigen Jahren beherbergt haben, und der Bau einer privaten Holzbearbeitungswerkstatt mit der wir den Bau unseres Hauses ermöglicht haben und diverse Workshops im Bereich „kreative Holzgestalltung“ und “Ecobau”
geplant hatten.

Wir bitten um schnelle finanzielle Unterstützung um als erstes die nötige Infrastruktur(Strom und fließendes Wasser) wiederherzustellen damit wir die nicht abgebrannten Gärten und Bäume wieder bewässern können um weitere Verluste zu verhindern. Leider sind uns auch einige der Landwirtschaftlichen Maschinen abgebrannt so wie unserem Radbagger, teile von unseres Traktor, Anhänger,etc. die uns natürlich gerade jetzt für die Aufräumarbeiten sehr gelegen kämen . 
Unsere Werkstatt ist zur Hälfte abgebrannt, durch die enorme Hitze der brennenden Holzbearbeitungs Maschinen ist sowohl der Industriebetonboden zerplatzt sowie die gesamte Elektrik Installation verbrannt.
Seit 5 Jahren waren wir bereits mit steigender Tendenz aktiv im traditionellen „Medronho“ Schnaps pflücken und brennen dabei, da wir in mitten eines 2008 angelegter Medronho Baum Plantage leben.
Sowohl die gesamte ernte des letzten Jahres ist uns in 9 Fässern a 120liter verbrannt wie auch die meisten der 3400 Medronho Bäumen.
Schweine Stall benötigt neue Holzpfosten und ein neues Dach, ebenso der Hühnerstall. Alle unsere Tiere haben das Feuer überlebt! Auch wir haben es! Das ist die Hauptsache, und dennoch sind der Schmerz und die Erschöpfung enorm, sowohl psychisch, körperlich, als auch finanziell...wir mussten mit hilfe vieler Freunde um unser aller Leben kämpfen! Unser mit viel viel libe und Energie selbst gebautes 8 Eckiges Haus(noch in der bauphase)steht noch!

Help after wildfires in southern Portugal

 

Hello friends and fellow men, in consequence of a devastating wildfire that occured on the 17´th of July 2021 here in the south of Portugal (Mexilhoeira Grande, Portugal) the existence of our family got destroyed.

We are Felix (34) and Jovita(37) and our sweet boys Samu (8) and Timo (3). Since 2008 we are working on the project “Monte Octogon” towards an independent life in balance with nature:

Permaculture garden projects, afforrestation of the continously dryer land with native trees like the arbutus (medronho) and oaktrees, making new lakes to assure the independent water supply for irrigation and daily use, continously extending the irrigation system for the fire protection and support of the ground water level, building of a 8 sided wooddenhouse as the center of the project which provides the space for the community kitchen/ livingroom for the family and volunteers from all over the wolrd which we welcomed over the years, building a private woodworkshop which allowed us to build our wooden house and it was planned to do various workshops of creative woodwork and eco-building tecniques..

 

 

We ask for a quick financial support to rebuild the basic infrastructures (electricity and water system) so we can start watering the garden and trees to avoid further loss.

Unfortunately aswell the digger, parts of our tractor, trailer, etc. burned, which would come very useful specially now for the work of cleaning up.

Half of our workshop burned and through the enormous heat of the burning carpenter mashines, the industrial concrete floor of the working area got destroyed aswell as the complete electric installation.

Since 5 years we were picking the fruit of the arbutus tree to produce the typical “medronho”, as we are living in a plantage of arbutus, planted in 2008.

All 9 barrels (each of 120 liters), the picking of last year burned, aswell as most of the alive trees.

The pigs stable needs new fence posts aswell as the chicken stable.

All our animals survived the fire! So did we! That is the main thing. But even then is the pain and the exhaustion enormous, mentally, physically and also financial. We had to fight for our life together with the help of many friends. Our with much love and energy self constructed 8 sided woodden house is standing!

Ajuda depois dos incêndios no Sul de Portugal

 

Olá amigos e companheiros. Na sequência de um incêndio devastador que ocorreu no dia 17 de Julho de 2021 aqui no Sul de Portugal (Meixilhoeira Grande, Portugal), a existência da nossa família foi destruída.

Nós somos o Felix (34), a Jovita (37), e os nossos queridos rapazes Samu (8) e Timo (3). Desde 2008 que estamos a trabalhar no projecto “Monte Octogon”, no sentido de uma vida independente e em equilíbrio com a natureza: projectos de jardins de permacultura; reflorestação do terreno cada vez mais seco com vegetação endémica como o arbutus (medronho) e carvalhos; construindo novos lagos para garantir o fornecimento de água independente para rega e uso diário; expandindo continuamente o sistema de irrigação para a protecção contra incêndios e apoio aos níveis de água no solo; construindo uma casa de madeira de oito lados como o centro do projecto e que proporciona espaço para a cozinha/sala comunitária para a família e os voluntários de todo o mundo que temos recebido ao longo dos anos; construindo uma carpintaria privada que nos permite construir a nossa casa de madeira e planeada para a realização de várias oficinas de carpintaria criativa e técnicas de construção eco-sustentáveis.

 

Pedimos-vos um pequeno apoio financeiro para reconstruir as infra-estruturas básicas (electricidade e sistema de fornecimento de água) para que possamos começar a regar o jardim e as árvores por forma a evitar perdas maiores.

 

Infelizmente, assim como a escavadora, partes do nosso tractor, caravana, etc., também arderam - todas coisas que seriam agora especialmente úteis para os nossos trabalhos de limpeza.

 

Metade da nossa oficina ardeu e, devido ao excessivo calor provocado pelo fogo, também as máquinas, o chão de cimento industrial, a área de trabalho e a totalidade da instalação eléctrica foram destruídos.

 

Há 5 anos que colhemos os frutos do arbutus para produzir o típico medronho, uma vez que vivemos numa plantação, desde 2008. Todos os 9 barris (cerca de 120 litros), a colheita do ano passado, arderam, assim como a maior parte das árvores.

 

As pocilgas precisam de novos postes de gradeamento, assim como o galinheiro. Todos os nossos animais sobreviveram ao incêndio! E nós também! Isso é o principal. Mas, ainda assim, a dor e a exaustão são enormes, mentalmente, fisicamente e, também, financeiramente. Tivemos de lutar pela nossa vida juntos, com a ajuda de muitos amigos. Com muito amor e energia, a nossa casa de oito lados continua de pé!
