Hill Country Memorial For Scott Gatewood

Donation protected

On April 2nd, 2019, Scott Gatewood passed away in his home in Lincoln, New Mexico.

James (Gatewood's son) wrote the below paragraph:

Born in 1948 to Popeye the Sailor and an angel, Scott wanted to be a cowboy from an early age, when every week he would try to outdraw Marshal Dillon during the opening of Gunsmoke. A goal at which he succeeded when as a teenager he got a job driving cattle out of the brush in what is now the northwest side of San Antonio. But even though his passion as a horseman persisted until the end of his life, he wore many hats. Veterinary student, Beatlemaniac, guitarist, singer, hellraiser, Willie Nelson's drummer, writer, journalist, Luckenbach irregular, actor, equine nutrition specialist, hired gun, historian. But the most important were these - teacher, mentor, helper, father, friend. A man whose stories could fill volumes, and whose good deeds will be spoken of for generations.

Mr. Gatewood, or G-Funk, was a huge inspiration to a lot of students throughout his teaching career. So many kids would go to him for guidance and advice on just about anything. Gatewood made such a huge impact on so many lives, when hearing about his passing, so many people have expressed their gratitude and their memories of such a wonderful man.

All donations will be used for a memorial service for Gatewood that will be closer to his previous home of Blanco, Texas, so all those who knew him can attend.

Thank you for all you have done Gatewood. Ride on cowboy.
