Hillpark Malawi Project 2025

In June 2023 I travelled to Malawi to help renovate 4 classrooms in Chilangoma primary school. Prior to our visit a number of classes were taught outside in the baking heat due to their simply not being enough classrooms that were fit for purpose to house all 700 pupils. During the trip we also volunteered at a Sports Foundation doing manual labour to get their grounds and facilities up to scratch in order to deliver netball and football sessions to pupils in neighbouring villages and provide free sporting opportunities for the young people in Malawi.

Myself, 2 colleagues and 28 pupils will return to Malawi to complete the renovation of the remaining 4 classrooms in the school in June 2025. Chilangoma primary has 8 classrooms housing over 700 pupils with no electricity. They learn in dark classrooms with no desks or chairs. The renovation we completed created a cleaner and brighter environment and our aim is to complete the renovation of the other 4 classrooms. We have a group target of £10,000 to do this work. This is over and above the travel and accommodation costs of £3000 for each individual.

I am hoping to raise some money towards our group fundraising target that will go directly to renovating these classrooms and bettering the education of pupils in Malawi.
