Hillsong Africa Youth Summer Camp

Hi! We are Hillsong Africa Youth.

We host a Summer Camp in January every year for young people in grades 7-12.

We host Summer Camp for these 5 reasons:

1. There is power in gathering under the name of Jesus!

2. We believe in the young people of this nation.

3. We know that if we can have a few days with young people outside of their normal day to day lives, lasting impact can be made.

4. We believe in encouraging, equipping & speaking life over young people to live for Jesus, lead others & be examples in their communities.

5. Summer camp creates a fun, safe space for young people to BE young.

The heart of our church is to build into the nation of South Africa. We believe investing in young people is one of the strongest ways to do this.

We have about 1000 young people that come to our Summer Camps across South Africa. Many of these young people come from poverty-stricken areas, belonging to families & communities with much financial struggle. We have young people joining from townships and areas such as Gugulethu, Mitchell’s Plain, Joe Slovo, Westlake, Kayamandi, Soweto, etc. and we don’t want finances to be the reason that young people miss out on an experience that we know can change their lives, as it has for many young people over the years.

For some young people joining us, having their own bed for a few nights, 3 meals a day, fun activities, and life-changing sessions centered around Jesus, is completely in contrast to their normal day-to-day lives. Our heart is that Summer Camp is for every single young person from any background, race, culture, or financial circumstance. One of the many sessions we do is a “boys/ girls breakout” where we speak directly about what it means to be a man or woman of integrity and strength.

The cost of our Summer Camp is immense and with many of our young people not being able to afford the full cost of Camp it leaves a large shortfall in the budget that we fundraise and raise sponsorship for every year.

All contributions are greatly appreciated and go directly towards the cost of Camp and sponsoring young people and we make zero profit.
