Hinchingbrooke House Roof Appeal
THE FRIENDS OF HINCHINGBROOKE HOUSE are inviting donors to help raise vital funds to support the repair and restoration of the lead roof of this historic grade one listed building.
This initial sum will allow for preparatory work to be undertaken prior to more significant funds being raised for a full replacement of the roof. The current lead roof is reaching the end of its 100 year life-span.
The House is a unique building of architectural and historical significance. It has been at the heart of the local community for hundreds of years. It first existed as a medieval nunnery, then as the ancestral home to both the Cromwell and Montagu familes (the Earls of Sandwich). For the last 50 years it has been the centre of Hinchingbrooke School - a state comprehensive school with nearly 2000 pupils.
By raising these funds we hope to support the school in efforts to maintain the building and secure it for future generations.
