Hip-Hop Tribute Mural

Donation protected
On May 13th & May 15th
at Union Street Park,
111 Union St., Hackensack, NJ 07601
I created The Largest
Hip-Hop Tribute Mural”
in the world, at the start of
Hip-Hop Appreciation Week,”
a yearly celebration of Hip-Hop
that is extra special
this year because it is the
50 Year Anniversary of Hip-Hop

I raised the initial goal of $2,500 up to $3,100 because I went back to the mural for an additional day of work to add more names. This came with added paint costs, additional tolls, and an extra cost for keeping the scissor lift longer.

COSTS:
Paying a photographer to document my process
• Paying a painter with a professional paint sprayer to buff the entire wall black
• Buying 25-30 cans of spray paint @ $9 each
• Renting a scissor lift
• Buying 4 buckets of black paint at $170 each
• Paying tolls and gas for my ride to and from New Jersey from Brooklyn 3 times:

1) Saturday (5/6/23) for a site visit
2) Friday (5/12/23) to oversee the buffing 3) Saturday (5/13/23) to create the mural
4) Monday (5/15/23) to add more names

* You can donate any amount. It can be as little as $3, literally.  Why not give a “Micro-Donation?

Think of it like you ran into me at a bar and said, “Hey, let me buy you a beer.”

If you are familiar with my work, then you know that in 2018 I released
the 1st Edition of my
Handwritten Art Tribute to Hip-Hop
and in 2020 I released the 2nd Edition.
Both of these were done on canvas,
and I made prints of both.

Now….
the idea is to create a 3rd Edition,
as a large-scale mural.

THIS WILL BE
THE LARGEST
HIP-HOP TRIBUTE MURAL
IN THE WORLD

Over the past five years
I have also made it my mission
to gift prints of both editions of this tribute piece
to the rap artists that are mentioned in it.
I have traveled the country doing this,
and I have now given Free prints to
over 160 rap artists, including some very notable names like:
Queen Latifah, Puff Daddy, Ice T, Big Daddy Kane, and Redman.

I sold prints to regular art collectors, and I also gifted them for FREE to the rappers whose names were featured in the art.

I spent literally a few thousand dollars of my own money… printing the art, framing the prints, traveling all over the US to meet with these rappers personally to gift it to them, and also countless trips to the post office to mail FREE prints to rappers that I could not meet up with personally.
