Hire two teachers for Liberian grammar school

Our family has been blessed to come to know a remarkable group of refugees in the strong Liberian community here in Boston. They all have remarkable stories and for many of them, their journey started as children at the Ziah Mission School, where they not only learned about reading and math, but how to strive and dream. We need to raise only $6,000 by the end of September to cover the cost of two accredited teachers from the Teach for Liberia program for the upcoming academic year.
The Ziah Mission School serves about 200 children ages 3 to 19 in the rural where public education is not available. Teach for Liberia is a program aimed at improving the education offered and will provide college-graduate, trained teachers to help implement modern curriculum, but each community needs to help provide financial support to participate.

After the US Civil War, Black Americans migrated back to Liberia and helped establish the first republic in Africa. In recent history, Liberia endured twenty-five years of its own horrific civil war, ending in 2005, which devastated the country and its educational system. During that period however, the Ziah Mission School endured, educating young Africans who now hold leadership positions in the country and around the world. In 2018, there was the first peaceful transition of power in the country through democratic elections. The country is making great strides in modernizing an economy where over 80% of its people live below the international poverty level. Quality education is the cornerstone of rebuilding Liberia.
