We are  raising money to benefit the Historic Kirkwood Train Station Foundation. The Foundation was established in 2016 to assist the City of Kirkwood with the preservation of Kirkwood's historic train station. The Kirkwood Train Station is the third busiest Amtrak train stop in the state. It now needs maintenance and improvements to better serve travelers and the community. Thank you very much in advance for contributing to this cause that means so much to the St. Louis, Missouri region.

Our Mission:

The Mission of the Historic Kirkwood Train Station Foundation is to seek ongoing funding sources for needed maintenance and construction projects for the preservation of the Kirkwood Train Station.

Our Restoration Project:
The Historic Kirkwood Train Station Foundation seeks to raise $4.6 million  dollars to fund the maintenance and construction work needed to restore and renovate the city’s historic icon so as to better serve the community and the thousands of train passengers who pass through its doors each year.

                                                                Rendering of Completed Restoration

Our Fundraising Efforts
Thanks to many generous donors, the Foundation has already pledged $500,000 toward the planned restoration and renovation of the historic icon to better serve the thousands of train travelers and to improve the station for the numerous public and private events that are held at the train station each year.

Fundraising efforts continue as we pursue private/public sources in order to raise the estimated $4.6M total needed to complete the project in 2024-25.

The Kirkwood Train Station is an outstanding example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. Built in 1893 to replace the first Kirkwood depot destroyed by fire, the last major renovation of the station took place in 1941.  The Kirkwood Train Station become the property of the City of Kirkwood in 2003 after it was shuttered by Amtrak.

UPDATE APRIL 2020:
The City of Kirkwood received notice that it was awarded a Transportation Alternatives program grant through the East-West Gateway Council of Governments for the Historic Kirkwood Train Station Restoration project that the City is undertaking in conjunction with the Historic Kirkwood Train Station Foundation.

The $1.5 million award will support various interior and exterior renovations to the train station such as; a new roof, heating and cooling system, window and door restoration, ADA compliant restrooms and ticket counter, an accessory storage building, as well as a covered exterior platform for train passengers.

The Train Station Foundation has been hard at work raising the $4.6 million needed to complete the project. This grant, along with generous donations from individual donors and grants already received by the Foundation, brings the amount raised to date for the project to $2,268,367.00, or nearly half-way to the estimated $4.6 million cost of this exciting project that will be the station's first renovation since 1941.

The Foundation is continuing its fundraising efforts, via this GoFundMe page and other programs, to reach our $4.9 million goal, as construction is not expected to start until 2024. You can also support the Historic Train Station Foundation's fundraising efforts by mailing a contribution to this address: The Historic Kirkwood Train Station Foundation 101 W Argonne Drive, Kirkwood, MO 63122.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to preserve and improve our greatly loved historic train station, securing its place in Kirkwood's past, present and future!
