Hit by a truck & Impound fees

Hi, my name is Krystal Dunatov, a 20-year-old cosplayer and medical student. On 9/21/2023, my friend Ty (who has plenty of driving experience) was driving my family's only car because I had not gotten enough rest the night before and did not feel safe to drive.

We were merging into the far left lane when a dodge ram came out of nowhere and collided with us in the driver side's back door. Ty had signaled and checked blind spot but he did not see this truck, and the truck driver stated he had only heard our cars colliding.

His truck sent our car spinning until we hit the concrete lane barrier, then we flipped upside down. Ty ended up with a really bad bump on his head, but we made it out with just cuts and scrapes.

Insurance does not want to cover fees because my dad stopped paying for the collision coverage.

Impound fees are accruing every day and Ty and I need to find work in the meantime before we can begin to pay the impound fees + towing costs.

While I understand I asked an uninsured driver to drive my family car, I really need help with costs.
