Hit & run victims Ming-chih Tsao and Ko-chin Yang
Donation protected
My name is Melody Tsao and I am the niece of Ming-chih Tsao and Ko-chin Yang, who were recently involved in a horrific car accident that placed my aunt in the hospital and took the life of my uncle and their close friend. I am raising funds to help with the costs of a memorial service for my uncle and hospital recovery efforts for my aunt.
Ming-chih Tsao, Ko-chin Yang and a dear friend were traveling in their vehicle on Garey Avenue in Pomona, CA on Sunday, May 28th, 2023 at 8:45 pm, when they were involved in a horrific hit-and-run accident. They were rear-ended by another car at very high speeds which sent their car into a center median, flipping it over and sadly killing Ming-chih Tsao and their friend in the front seat. Ko-chin Yang, who was seated in the back of the vehicle had to be extricated by first responders and is slowly recovering in the hospital from multiple broken bones, a collapsed lung, and a brain bleed. The suspect in the crash was driving a stolen vehicle at the time and immediately fled the scene of the accident on foot until he was apprehended many hours later in a nearby hospital.
Ming-chih Tsao and Ko-chin Yang were happily married for more than 40 years before the crash that took Mr. Tsao's life. Ming-chih Tsao is survived by his wife, Ko-chin Yang and two sons. Due to the severity of the accident, the family is experiencing financial hardships and is expecting more expenses to come as a result of this tragedy. We are kindly asking for any donations that would help them with the hospital and recovery efforts of Ko-chin Yang, and the burial and memorial services for Ming-chih Tsao. Ming-chih Tsao and Ko-chin Yang are loved by many family and friends in the area and are respected and active members in their church and community. Ming-chih Tsao and Ko-chin Yang immigrated from Taiwan and have lived in the Los Angeles area for the past 20 years. Ming-chih Tsao loved to play badminton, take walks around the neighborhood with his wife, and socialize at the local adult daycare center.
We want to sincerely thank you for any support and prayers during this difficult time for our family.
Love, the Tsao family
UPDATE: Thank you for all the donations so far, our family is blown away by the support and generosity of those around us. My aunt is doing well in the skilled nursing facility. They have physical therapy and occupational therapy working with her every day. She's able to take some steps using a walker, sit up in the wheelchair, and even take occasional showers. She's still drowsy at times due to her head trauma but she's improving each day and the nursing facility is doing an amazing job. My cousins are at her bedside every day and take shifts to be with her.
