HiViz is an application to increase preparedness and security when unknown visitors are calling to your house.
We started out with the aim of helping families with autism prepare children for unknown visitors. Strangers calling at your door can be upsetting for children and we want to provide a new service to help make visits an easier experience.
The National Autistic Society NI we’re excited by the project and suggested providing educational materials within the app for visitors.
Discussing the project with family, friends and now team members showed it could expand to help a wide range of users in different ways and one area will be security by preventing bogus callers.
Our aims:-
Put the householder in charge of who can call to their door and inform visitors of any additional requirements prior to calling.
Prepare
Help a child prepare for a visit
Use the in app photo ID prior to the call
Arrange for another family member to call ahead of the visit
Option to view caller information on smart speakers like the Echo Show
Security
Prevent bogus callers - Expecting a visit with prior notification and in app caller ID
User can set the date & time for visits
Setting a second contact for notifications allows you to inform family and friends automatically
Selecting only the companies you want to call provides peace of mind
Background
Our Story
We work in the electricity sector and each energy supplier keeps details for access arrangements, additional needs of each of their customers. An example would be household with a child with autism contacting their electricity supplier to provide any additional requirements when a meter reader would visit. The child may find strangers visiting the house an upsetting experience and often the visits are unannounced. The same idea could apply to any utility / service providers, telecoms, gas, water etc Each of these companies would need to keep details or the householder would have to update each company of any changes in requirements.
The aim of our application is to centralise the household data and put the householder in charge of the process. They will be able to login, register their address and enter any details for access to their property or specific needs to make any visits easier. Utilities / Service providers will be able to lookup data for households in their system to use the data to arrange the visit as required. The user will be notified by email or phone notification of the date of the visit and details of the caller (Name, Picture) allowing them to prepare.
We believe we can add great value to peoples lives with our application and hope you would like to be part of the development by helping us get funded.
Thanks for your time.
