Hōlualoa Theater Fire Impacts Hula Halau
Donation protected
Aloha
Sadly, on the morning of Aug 21, the historic Hōlualoa Theater burned down. The theater sits in the center of Hōlualoa Village and has added to the charm of the sleepy up country town. The big blue theater has been the home of Lehua Bray’s Hula Maunalei Halau for the past 13 years. Every Tuesday afternoon her haumana (students) would gather inside the theater and practice their hula and mele. Hula Maunalei has dancers that span the ages from tiny 4 year olds, to the beautiful gracious ladies. Kumu Lehua’s passion is passing on her knowledge and love of hula to her students. She has dedicated herself to helping our keiki grow and love hula. We would like to help her, which is the reason for this GoFundMe. Hula Maunalei has not only lost their home base, they have lost all of their hula implements, instruments, hula skirts, costumes and accessories. We humbly ask for donations to recoup the items which were lost in the fire and to help pay for a new place for the girls to practice their hula. We appreciate any kokua ♥️ Mahalo!
