Single Mom COVID Relief Fund

My name is Michelle and I am friends with Lisa Pradia, a single mom who is raising her daughter, Iyanni.  Lisa and Iyanni, like many others across the nation, have been negatively impacted by the COVID pandemic.

We were thankful to hear about the deferment of lease payments that was made available in response to the devastating impact of this pandemic. However, in recent weeks, things have taken a drastic turn as the protections for tenants expired. Under pressure to maintain a place to live, the landlord filed an eviction and was awarded an $11,000 judgement against my friend, Lisa.

Lisa applied for the Covid Relief Fund and was approved, but the landlord would not sign the W-9 that was needed to receive funds to ensure Lisa and Iyanni had a roof over their heads. In addition to the  threat of an $11,000 judgement, she paid $2,350 for an appeal, but was advised that the payment would not provide her any recourse from the judgement, but would only buy a little time for her and her daughter to find a place to live.

There is an immediate need for funds to ensure Lisa and Iyanni are not put in the position of being homeless in the midst of an already unfortunate and unprecedented pandemic. I sincerely appreciate and commend you for your kindness.
