HMCStrong for Tim Miller and Lindsey Jones

Donation protected
Many of you may have worked with Tim Miller RN over the years whether in the MICU, in his role as a RAPID RN, in the COVID ICU, as an ECMO RN, or most recently as a RN for the WMCC (Washington Medical Coordination Center). He has been a nurse at Harborview for 19 years and has helped and touched the lives of so many staff and patients.

On June 15-21 Tim and Lindsey, his partner of the last 5 1/2 years (many of you may know her, she is a nurse in the Trauma ICU) moved to a new rental. In that week Tim developed horrible bilateral lower back pain and lost 22 lbs. Thinking he might have hurt his back from the move he presented to the ER on 6/25. To his complete surprise, before the provider could bring him the news Tim read his CT results via Mychart which showed he has cancer.

Specifically cancer with mets to the liver, lung, spleen, and lymph nodes of the aorta with an 8 cm mass on the body, head, and tail of the pancreas. He was admitted the next day with an ileus that has yet to resolve. From 6/26 to 7/12 he was in the hospital and got a biopsy, colonoscopy and a port-a-cath (long-term IV under the skin) placed in anticipation of chemotherapy.

The biopsy showed a well-differentiated pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor cell cancer.

He is in the process of getting PETSCANs at Fred Hutch and then hopefully starting chemotherapy soon.

His 2 sons Braiden and Gaelin are now aware despite how painful it was to tell them and many tears were shed.

Lindsey has been by his side this entire time while she has had to put her own Mom on hospice care on 7/14. She has also needed to take time off work and is scheduled for back surgery on 7/26.

Tim and Lindsey cannot express how grateful and humbled they are by the outreach, prayers, and support.

Many have asked how they can continue to help.

If anyone has the means and PTO hours they would wish to donate please fill out a shared leave form and submit it to your manager.

Or please consider donating to their gofundme to help assist with the medical costs and loss of wages from time off of work.

Thank you.
