Funeral and Memorial Expenses

On December 17th 2022, my brother Gabriel Omar Cruz-Loya was admitted to the ICU for respiratory failure, and renal failure. A couple months ago he was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis, which caused his kidneys to fail, and require routine dialysis. He had been immunocompromised due to the medications he had been taking for his renal failure. When he was admitted to the ICU, he was found to have pneumonia from influenza A virus. He was making progress and we were hopeful he would be home for Christmas, but suddenly he started declining, and the infection got worse. On December 28th 2022, my brother passed away. He fought hard to get better, but it was too late. My brother was only 28 years old, with a whole life ahead of him, a wife, a toddler, and an entire family who loved him. I never imagined I would lose my brother at such a young age. No one should have to go through the pain of losing a child, like my mom is. All donations will go towards funeral and memorial expenses. En Diciembre 17 de 2022, mi hermano Gabriel Omar Cruz-Loya ingresó al ICU por insuficiencia respiratoria y insuficiencia renal. Hace un par de meses le diagnosticaron una rara enfermedad autoinmune llamada, Pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis, que provocó que sus riñones fallaran y requiriera diálisis de rutina. Había estado inmunocomprometido debido a los medicamentos que había estado tomando para su insuficiencia renal. Cuando ingresó al ICU, se encontró que tenía pneumonia por el virus de la influenza A. Estaba progresando y esperábamos que estuviera en casa para Navidad, pero de repente comenzó a decaer y la infección empeoró. En Diciembre 28 de 2022 falleció mi hermano. Luchó duro para mejorar, pero ya era demasiado tarde. Mi hermano tenía solo 28 años, toda una vida por delante, una esposa, un niño pequeño y toda una familia que lo amaba. Nunca imaginé que perdería a mi hermano a una edad tan temprana. Nadie debería tener que pasar por el dolor de perder a un hijo, como lo hace mi mamá.
