Family of Hoa Kim Huynh
Donation protected
Hi friends and family,
We are fundraising to help our family with the financial burden of medical and funeral costs for our beloved aunt, Hoa (Kim) Huynh. After weeks of waiting and her condition declining each day, our family decided to let her peacefully rest in hospice this week, free of all machines, including those helping her breathe and stay alive.
A month ago, my Aunt Kim, traveled from Texas to Virginia to visit our family when she suddenly had trouble breathing. They admitted her into the ICU where she had to be put on a ventilator. Eventually, they performed what was supposed to be a simple procedure when she unexpectedly went into cardiac arrest. Doctors attempted to resuscitate her for 30+ minutes, during which her brain went without blood and oxygen, causing her significant brain injury.
Her most recent MRI shows significant damage to the brain, leaving her in a vegetative state where she can no longer breathe on her own. Our family has decided to let her go peacefully and take her off life support.
I have created this fundraiser to help my family with the financial burden of this unexpected, tragic situation. As a single mom, she leaves behind her 23-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter. Being in Virginia has made this difficult because we have made multiple trips there and back, spending thousands of dollars in airfare. We will have to transport her back and arrange funeral costs of an estimated $20,000. Due to her Texas-based insurance, we will also have to take care of any medical costs not covered in Virginia. In no way do we expect we will meet this goal, but anything will help.
Anyone who knows Kim knows she is the kindest and sweetest person on this planet. She was everyone's favorite person. Favorite sister, favorite aunt, favorite friend. She was selfless, always wanted the best for everyone, and would lend a helping hand any chance. She always looked at the glass "half full" and never complained about anything. Her life was perfect in her eyes. She raised my siblings and me when my parents were busy with their businesses. She was a 2nd mom to me, which is why I am reaching out to help in any way I can. We are so heartbroken to lose someone so special and dear to us, but we appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers as we took this day by day.
You can venmo me directly at @mhuynh92 if you'd like to send directly to avoid additional fees. Otherwise, I thought this gofundme would be the most convenient way to help if you can. Any additional funds will go to her kids. <3 Thank you all.
