Let's Help Laos Together

Hello,
My name is Nitaya Panemalaythong and I was honored to be the first Asian American to hold the title of Miss Minnesota USA in 2012. This honor gave me many wonderful opportunities and privileges to connect with my community nationally and internationally. I was humbled and excited to work with many Minnesota organizations to advocate for better health care and education for Minnesota children. I'm passionate about helping others.
I am writing because I now have the honor and opportunity to do something similar for the children of Laos, and I would like you to be a part of that journey. I was officially invited by the U.S. Embassy in Laos to help promote business, charitable, and cultural ties between Laos and the U.S. This event is sponsored by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) for January 13-27, 2013.
My family and I have roots in Laos, and this is my very first chance to return since we left as refugees nearly 3 decades ago. I really want to make a positive difference in the lives of others firsthand on this visit.
I would love to be able to list you as a sponsor of this journey because I deeply respect the work you do in our community to raise the quality of life for others. I am asking you to please consider making a donation to this special opportunity. We are in need of school supplies, hygiene materials, toys, shoes, clothes and international shipping services. Monetary donations are also welcomed to help us purchase the items listed, and to assist the staff of the schools, orphanages and non-profits I'll be visiting.
On this trip, I will be working with the charity Peuan Mit. Supported by the U.S. Embassy, they provide counseling and assistance to Lao street children with limited opportunities. I will also visit remote villages near Luang Prabang with the non-profit organization Pencils of Promise to distribute school supplies and hygiene materials. I will also visit the Vientiane Youth Center for Health and Development, an organization that does incredible work with Lao teenagers. Along with these organizations and other schools and orphanages, I'll also be helping to promote increased business partnerships and support for these charities.
I know you may have many questions, so please contact me at [email redacted] if you are interested in donating to my cause, or if there is anything you would like to know that I can answer for you. To make it more convenient for you, monetary donations can also be sent to: http://www.gofundme.com/hok38.
With your help, I know that we can make a difference in the world for the many struggling children, families and adults.
Thank you for your time and generosity.
Sincerely,
Nitaya Panemalaythong
