Holden's Youth Olympic Fund

Welcome to my go fund me page!
My name is Holden Kitteridge, I am a 16 year old french immersion student at Earl Marriot and I am a skeleton athlete. Imagine going head first down an ice track at over 130km/h while 5 g's of pressure is pushing you down and all you can hear is the sound of you gliding across the ice and your own heartbeat in your head. That is skeleton. Most people have never heard of skeleton, and I plan on changing that because in these coming few months, I have an amazing oppertunity. I have been given the chance to represent Canada at the 2016 Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer Norway! That means that I will have 6 qualification races at 3 tracks around the world, 2 races at each track. They will be Lillehammer Norway, Igls Austria, and a North American venue that has yet to be decided.
With a sport that is not widely known such as skeleton, there tends to be a few draw backs. The biggest one of all in Canada is funding. Only the top 5 skeleton athletes in Canada actually get regular funding, and at smaller levels such as junior world cup or youth olympic games, there is very, very rarely, if any, funding. Because of this, many great athletes can't afford to pay thousands of dollars to fly to places to compete. Unfortunately, I am one of those athletes, and traveling to compete in the youth olympics is not cheap. For every event, I will need at minimum, 5000$ to pay for plane tickets, accommodations, ground travel and other necessities while I'm there. In total, I'm looking at over 15,000$! Now for someone like me, that is an absurd amount of money that my family can't just pull out to use. So that's where you guys come in!
I'm starting this page to hopefully raise enough money for me to go to the Youth Olympic Games, and one day make my dream a reality and represent Canada on the world stage. You guys can help out by doing a few things.
1. Donating. Without donations this can not happen. You guys are what's turning this dream to a reality.
2. Sharing this. Social media can work wonders, and right now that's what I need to be able to do this. Facebook, twitter, instagram, everything helps.
Some ways to follow the progress of this fundraiser and what is happening in my life are to follow me on:
