On June 4th, just a mere 6 days after his high school graduation, Holden took a direct driver side hit in his vehicle. Instead of attending his Kennesaw State University orientation that week, Holden started the fight for his life. He suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. He has shown incredible perseverance in the overwhelming amount of complications he has had to overcome. Bleeding into his left ventricle. His team placed an EVD device for brain pressure and release of fluids, this has since been removed and he is able to control his own pressure and the swelling and bleeding have stopped. He battled through pneumonia likely caused by aspiration. Placed on life support he has since graduated to a tracheotomy and is currently breathing on his own. His orbitals were shattered and fractured, his face has gone from unrecognizable to looking more like their sweet Holden. Although he is still considered to be in an unconscious state, he has made some miraculous gains in his motor skills. Frequently moving his arms and hands, reaching for a ball when dropped and touching his hands together. He continues to battle several complications. We are constantly in awe of his strength. His parents, Jordan and Trisha (and siblings, Kohler, Ronan & Briar) refuse to lose hope!!!
Holden’s next step is to be transferred to a Brain Trauma Rehab facility. His time there will be dictated by the Doctors and his emergence from his current conscious state.
The financial toll this has taken is great, with most yet to come and many costs still unknown. Currently, Jordan has limited time off. Trisha has transitioned from a part time employee to Holden’s primary caregiver.

Where will your money go?
While insurance does cover some expenses there will still be a significant amount of bills to be covered solely by the Ludwigs.
-Special needs due to disabilities.
-Home accessibility renovations needed downstairs to create full bathroom & bedroom accomodations.
-Loss of Trisha's income.
-Sibling Care for Holden's 3 young siblings so Trisha can be present during rehab sessions and train for future care.
-Vehicle modifications to Trisha’s Van for transportation of Holden.
Holden is a wonderful son, brother and friend. The sheer amount of ICU visitors he has had, thoughts, prayers, good vibes and help is a testament to that. Holden never met a stranger, always has a positive attitude and is legendary for connecting new people together. He always sees the best in everyone! His family is eternally grateful for any help and welcomes you to follow his journey through recovery.
