Holiday Book Drive for Low-Income Students
Tax deductible
How will my donation be used?
Your donation will provide the gift of free, new, and current books to our students with emotional disabilities and autism at The Foundation Schools Holiday Book Fair, hosted December 9-13, 2024. This annual Book Fair encourages our students to continue reading over Winter Break!
Who will my donation benefit?
Students with emotional disabilities in grades K-8 at The Foundation School in Largo, MD and The Foundation School of Montgomery County in Gaithersburg, MD, and students with autism at The Foundation Learning Center in Landover, MD.
Why should I donate to the Holiday Book Fair Drive?
The Foundation Schools is a collection of three K-12 nonprofit schools that provide a specialized learning environment for children with emotional disabilities, autism, and social-emotional learning challenges. 80% of our students live in low-income homes and many more come from disadvantaged families, so their parents do not have the financial resources to pay for books or support PTA-type fundraising. Therefore, the funding of the Holiday Book Fair depends on your efforts.
What kind of books will my donation fund?
The books provide recreational reading as a supplement to instruction. The more fun our students have reading, the more likely they are to improve their reading skills. Student favorite books include Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dog Man, Plants vs. Zombies, Pokemon and Lego characters, cars, technology, and superheroes.
How long will the Book Drive run?
November 14th - December 2nd, 2024
How should I make my contribution?
Please donate at this GoFundMe page or, as an alternative, send your check postmarked by November 27 so it can be processed in time for the Fair.
