Holiday Fundraiser for Deaf Adults with Additional Needs
Donation protected
Openspace is a registered CIC, non-profit highly specialised day service for adults who are Deaf/non verbal and also have additional needs.
Our day centre provides social therapy in a welcoming, creative and learning environment. Enabling our service users to develop their communication skills using British Sign Language, reducing social isolation and improving their health and wellbeing. Our dedicated staff support our service users to live as independently as possible.
In 2025 we are hoping to organise a holiday for 17 service users, many of whom have seldom had a holiday in this country and have certainly not been abroad, a group holiday organised by us may well be their only opportunity to travel overseas. The group would be fully supported at all times by 9 members of our highly trained staff.
Some of our service users are unable to afford a holiday meaning they would miss out on a vital opportunity to widen their networks, increase social connexions and build confidence. We are therefore requesting funding/donations to enable all our service users access to what may well be a once in a lifetime experience for them. We anticipate that the total cost of the holiday will be approximately £900 pp.
this will have an important positive impact on their mental health and wellbeing
“Chris has Cerebral Palsy and has lived on his own since his mother passed away 5 years ago, he’s never been on holiday abroad. Openspace is the only place where he feels he can be himself and communicate using BSL with other service users but also enjoy all the wonderful opportunities we provide. Going on holiday with our support team would be a dream come true for him”
“Chloe has cerebral palsy and attends our service Monday to Friday, she’s also never been on holiday but is extremely excited about the possibility of a holiday with all her friends here at Openspace. Chloe is a huge Leeds United fan and and enjoys chatting about the games and results”
