Holistic Doula Support for Five Families
Donation protected
Hi I'm Olivia! I'm a full spectrum Doula and Certified Lactation Counselor who focuses on Black and LGBTQIA families in the Des Moines area.
This summer has been challenging for so many reasons. As Black people, we have survived one of the most violent summers of recent years. We've all survived unceasing grief for life before this season, for connection, for victims of state violence, for plans, and family and friends lost.
In all this, I believe that we have a responsibility to care for each other. More than ever in such a divisive and isolating time. We all deserve care that celebrates the whole of who we are. And clearly, no one is coming to save us. We must create this system of community care for ourselves and each other.
"Nobody's free until everybody's free" - Fannie Lou Hammer
What a time to be pregnant, birthing, and parenting. The challenges that already existed are magnified in our current reality. Isolation from support systems, inaccessible maternal healthcare, employment, childcare, housing; people bringing new life into this world deserve more support.
In my Doula practice I do everything I can to make my services accessible. I use sliding scales, mutual aid among families served, and flexible payment options. I wish I could offer all of my services for free forever, but would not be able to sustain my joy for this work if I did. Helping to cover the cost of support for families in your community gives them more funds to spend on necessities and niceties, and gives them a promising foundation on which to support their new child.
My 2020 goal is to serve five families- free to them- over the next nine months.
Winners will receive my holistic package (a $1,500 value):
Labor Doula care:
-education & resources
-community referrals
-emotional support
-birth planning
-nutritional support
-advocacy
-yoga postures
-continuous labor support
12 Postpartum Doula hours:
-light housework & organization
-meal prep
-errands
-infant care
-back to work planning
Lactation Counseling:
-breastfeeding support
-strengths based solutions
-resources and education
For more information on all of the services families can receive check out my website Kismetdoulaservices.com/services.
I am truly looking forward to serving 5 families and creating comfort for folks who need it. I’m so grateful for your support. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me. I would love to connect with you.
Do you know/ are you someone who is pregnant and could use extra support? I will be prioritizing Black folks in the Des Moines Area. However, I offer virtual support for those who aren’t in the Des Moines area, or for those are more comfortable with that option. Apply to win!
