Taunton Town’s fund for Blood Cancer UK

Taunton Town will play Bristol City with a special guest of Hollie Palmer who will lead out the two sides ahead of kick off. Last year Hollie was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma and this is her story:

I am a 25 year old life long Bristol City fan and last year I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma. Hodgkin Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects white blood cells called lymphocytes. Hodgkin lymphoma can occur at any age, although most people diagnosed are between the ages of 15 and 34, or over 60. I immediately began chemotherapy treatment, a highly effective but gruelling regime. The support and care from our amazing NHS staff, despite being in the middle of a global pandemic, helped me through this time. At the end of April 2021 I was declared in remission. This wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated research of Blood Cancer UK improving the effectiveness of treatments. I urge everyone to familiarise themselves with the symptoms and if in doubt, please see your GP.

Blood Cancer UK are a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
