Holling’s Sternotomy Recovery ❤️‍

Hey, everyone! It's Holling. I am reaching out in hopes of any support available while I land on my feet after the most unexpected and life-changing month of my life.

On April 26th, I went into Urgent Care for shoulder pain assuming I had a pinched nerve or a pulled muscle. By chance, the nurse decided to take an X-ray and coincidentally noticed a mass in my chest. After a half dozen more X-rays, a CT scan, and an MRI, a medical team was able to determine that there was a massive, benign tumor in my chest that needed to be removed immediately due to the displacement of my heart and partial collapse of my lung it was causing. Due to the size of the tumor and risk of the surgery, they decided it would be best to remove the tumor via sternotomy-- the same procedure used for open heart surgery.

By May 10th, I was able to go in for surgery and am immeasurably thankful to say that it was a success and I am in good health. I stayed in the ICU for several days and the hospital for a few days after that. By May 15th, not even three weeks since the first X-ray, I am home and beginning my journey of recovery.

As you can imagine, this type of procedure has one hell of a recovery time and I will be out of work for at least 2-3 months. I decided I would try my luck and start this GoFundMe in hopes of helping me cover my bills in the upcoming months as I will be without pay for the foreseeable future. This would include my living expenses, groceries, and medical bills. Any amount contributed is a huge gift and I am grateful to even be writing this message today.
