Holocaust Survivor Needs Your Help
Donation protected
Nick Hope, a Dachau Concentration Camp Survivor, just celebrated his 100th Birthday in September.
My father, Nickoliay Xoprenko was born September 7, 1924, in Petrovka, Dunbas, in
Ukraine. In 1974 he changed his name to Nick Hope. Spiritually, he always had believed
in hope… and it is far easier to spell ‘Hope’ than ‘Xoprenko.’
My family and I are requesting help and support from you.
I'm asking because my father, a humble and very proud gentleman, last year could not
afford to attend the Dachau 79th anniversary liberation event without firstly, cashing in
his funeral and casket policy so that he and I could attend the ceremonies.
Many people don’t think about the cost of living to such a great age.
My father worries about his house that requires tens of thousands of dollars in repair.
My father, an amazing 100 year old, a very kind and great gentleman of his time, was
tortured during his incarceration in multiple Holocaust camps.
The first time, was in Ukraine, during the 1933 Holodomor famine, implemented by
Stalin, which killed over 3 million people, including my father's two brothers.
The second was during WW2 under Hitler's regime, also by the hand of Hitler's SS,
where my father worked at an ammunition factory at Wolfratshausen, wearing only the
clothes on his back for eleven months.
Then the third, where he was falsely accused of sabotage whilst working at the BMW
factory and thrown into Dachau Concentration Camp for three months.
My father had been recruited to help build the aircraft engines at the BMW factory, and
transported to Allach, a subcamp of Dachau. My father was there, incarcerated for a
further two and a half years enduring many terrible and unspeakable atrocities,
including starvation, torture and beatings by the SS.
Now this is where my father really needs an extraordinary amount of help from you all
please.
My father and myself have been invited to return back to the Dachau Camp on April
27th, 2025, by special invitation to attend the 80th year liberation anniversary
ceremonies, in and across Dachau and Munich.
On the April 29, 1945, 32,000 Dachau prisoners, became survivors. On the afternoon of this day the wonderful American soldiers arrived to liberate all of the precious human
beings and souls at the camp.
Both the survivors and the liberators, these great and extraordinary men and women
have now very sadly dwindled down to the very few.
The Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp took place on April 29th, 1945, by the U.S. Army, 42nd Rainbow Division, the 45th Infantry Regiment, the 20th Armored Tank
Corps, together with handful of other U.S. military units.
The majority of the wonderful liberators are now 100 years of age or more.
The liberators and or their families will also hopefully be attending the 80th anniversary
ceremonies alongside my father, the survivors and their families.
My father is a great hero in my eyes, in my heart, and to our family as well.
Nick Hope, Dachau survivor, amazingly now 100 years of age, wants to return back to
the Dachau camp this coming April to tell of, show, and to share his forgiveness,
compassion, and hope to everyone that wishes to listen. Nick has forgiven all those who
have caused him harm, pain, and immense suffering, including the SS officer, who Nick
just happened to see and meet at a Krankenhausse unemployment office, fifteen years
later in Germany.
We would greatly appreciate any support you can offer - even the smallest amount will make a big difference.
Our goal is to raise enough funds to ensure that my father can travel comfortably and safely, covering his insurance and medical expenses, as he compassionately shares his testimony with others through a documentary being written of his incredible life story.
The financial help and assistance will be of the greatest importance to him and our family. We will keep you informed of Nick Hope's book progress through social media outlets.
Nickoliay "Nick" Xoprenko changed his last name to Hope in 1974. Spiritually, he has always believed in hope… and it is a far easier spelling... but we graciously hope you can be generous with your financial gift.
Please share this link with your family, friends, and neighbors to help us make this happen.
Thank you ALL for your love, care, and support.
God bless you.
Sincerely,
George (son), Nick, and the entire Hope family
