Holy Family Restoration Project

Our Lady of Charity Parish is embarking on restoring Holy Family Church. At its completion in 1914, Holy Family enjoyed the rare distinction of being the only one in America decorated in Ancient Celtic. Holy Family enjoyed the distinction of Celtic art decoration of the 8th and 9th centuries. The sanctuary panels are taken entirely from the 'Gospels of Lindisfarne' and almost all of the decorative work on the soffits is either a reproduction or an adaptation of the 'Book of Kells'.
For various reasons in the late 1950's (believe 1958/9) the entire interior of the church was painted over, hiding the beautiful Ancient Celtic artwork.
It is our desire today to uncover and preserve this Celtic Art, treasure and history. Many have graced the church and school and now we need your help to preserve this South Buffalo gem!
