Homans Shred ALS

Jeff Homan was diagnosed in May of 2017 with ALS at age 38. He and his wife Tara are parents to two active young boys, Evan and Cole. Their family has lived for adventure, spending time together camping, rock climbing, skiing, etc. Their world abruptly changed with this diagnosis. In Tara's words in a post to friends: "I've written and rewritten my post to you today a million times in my mind and then typed and erased the equivalent number of times. It's been 2 days since we received devastating, life changing, no...more like life destroying, news and I couldn't bring myself to share it with you right away. The top Neurologists in the nation reviewed Jeff's test results and said 'I have to agree with our are team back home, you have ALS...and there is no cure.' We had a few hours to process this information with a team of Dr.'s, nurses, and researchers. Then, the overwhelming fear set in as we opened the door, walked out into the main atrium of the Mayo Clinic and stood there in silence. Tears streaming, staring blankly at each other, we managed to choke out the words 'now what.' No treatment, no plan, no course of action for this terrible disease."
In the time since Jeff's diagnosis, his strength and function have steadily declined. He is no longer able to walk, and relies on the use of a power wheelchair for mobility. He requires assistance for all daily activities. Despite these declines, Jeff remains positive and hopeful. He recently said "Today is the very best day we're going to have." They are living each day with this in mind, and continue to remain as adventurous as possible. All funds raised from this site will go directly to Jeff's medical costs and care. Your support is so greatly appreciated!
"Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10)
