Home burned down, NO RV or LIABILITY INSURANCE
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Kaneez Leonard. One of my best friends in the world Rachel Hewitt (and her husband Scott and four children) recently had their RV home catch fire and was a total loss. The devastating part is that this RV home was where the vast majority of their savings was invested and without their knowledge their liability and RV insurance had lapsed. Praise God they were NOT in the home when the fire happened, however most of their belongings were.
A backdrop - the family of 6 suffered financial hardship and decided to make a huge commitment and push through "tiny living" to help save money. They ALL lived in an RV (they bought with all of their monetary liquid assets) and worked hard and sacrificed to save the money needed to help make a down payment on their future home. They lived that way for a year and were FINALLY ready to make their move. They had rented a small house this past July and were in the process of moving to it. They had moved the kid’s summer clothes, their work clothes, blankets, pillows and a few toys and books. They had purchased a few pieces of furniture for the house and were ready to move the rest of their belongings.
Then - yesterday - their entire RV/Home burnt to the ground (they think due to an appliance malfunction). The fire severely damages a neighbors unit and the camp site. And, unfortunately their insurance on the RV itself and liability insurance had lapsed as they were an interim period of moving. Their plan was to sell the RV and save that money towards the down payment for a house. In a matter of minutes, those savings burned along with the most of their things. They no longer have money to get their new home and also have a liability to cover damages to surrounding mobile homes caused by the fire. They are devastated. And, my heart is breaking for them.
I know these pages can help people. This is the SWEETEST, most deserving family. I cannot wrap my mind around this set back they've suffered. It sure is nice to have support from friends, family, and the world to carry us through what seem like the impossible.
ANY help you can give would be appreciated. Even $5 (what we spend on a coffee) could make a difference. Thank you so much for your time listening to their story and for thinking about helping making this tragedy as bearable as possible.
