“It is times like this when we look to lean on each other most.”

Hello friends and family:

I am Gail V. Zuri Sami Ra Maati Jordan, the many names that I go by. I am here to seek your help in raising funds for the final rites of Mama Nasrah Smith.

Nasrah Smith (Mama Osun), made her transition to the ancestral realm on Wednesday, 6/8/22 at 2:45 pm. Her passing was such a surprise because Nasrah laid down quietly as if she had made an agreement, in the ways of her Native American ancestors, to release herself to the angels that I can imagine sang upon her arrival. Now, those of us left behind are putting together a fitting Memorial to Celebrate Her Life.

Nasrah’s departure from this earth was swift, giving her no time to put her affairs in order, nor time to make access to her bank accounts known to her sons. So to raise money immediately, for her final rites, the family is asking for your help. The  goals of $10,000 and $20.000 were thankfully met to help in covering  her Funeral Expenses.  We've now raised the goal to $40,000 to assist in covering some of the  financial responsibilities she left behind and expected  expenses for her Home Going Memorial planned for June 26, 2022.  Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated and we do recognize that you are still filling up her bucket. If you had the privilege in knowing Nasrah, you know how deep was, thus the bucket is only a reflection of her, so let's fill it UP!!!

The money raised through this Go Fund Me is in the name of Nasrah's son Sadq Sanford, who is the beneficiary. Sadq is tasked with managing Nasrah's final affairs which include her funeral expenses,  her Memorial Celebration, fulfilling the lease on her home and other financial obligations Nasrah had prior to her ascension.
It is important to me that I reach all of you who knew Nasrah because I do not want to leave anyone out. As a community midwife, Nasrah touched the lives of many families. As a midwifery advocate in the GA State legislature process, Nasrah has stood up for many communities, regardless of race, gender, or kind. Because Nasrah has been an integral pillar in nation-building, I want all who see this call to action to give and participate in lifting Nasrah up whether you know her or not! I know you will want to show your respect in this way. All donations, large and small, will be appreciated as we come together to reach our goal in Unity-Umoja.

“There are No Words great enough for our Sister Nasrah, that exemplify her spirit, tenacity and resilience. Forever will her life be a reminder of love, kindness and fortitude.” Ujima Thomas
